Kemuri Japanese Izakaya Restaurant, situated in Bandar Baru Permas Jaya, offers diners a delightful experience with its wide selection of Japanese delicacies. Many reviews highlight the **value for money** aspect, particularly the Kemuri dinner and shabu sets, which come with a complimentary array of sides including miso soup and rice. Customers, such as Lennox Cheok, rave about the **juicy ginger fried pork** and the freshness of the pork belly in shabu sauce, making it a **family-friendly dining destination**.
While food quality receives generally favorable remarks, some diners, like Denis, experienced inconsistencies with sashimi freshness and noted a resemblance to Chinese or Thai flavors in certain dishes. However, the ambiance, enhanced by the **open kitchen concept**, creates a vibrant atmosphere reminiscent of dining in Japan. Rhian Tan mentions the lively yet somewhat noisy environment, perfect for families yet possibly overwhelming for those seeking a quieter meal.
The staff's friendliness, as noted by various reviewers, adds to the inviting atmosphere, though there are suggestions for improved **attentiveness**. Despite minor drawbacks, like seating comfort, the unique **liquid buffet** and nostalgic side dishes make Kemuri a **worthwhile culinary venture** in Masai.

Reviews for Kemuri Japanese Izakaya Restaurant
Review highlights
Based on 124 reviewsKemuri Japanese Izakaya Restaurant is appreciated for its authentic ambiance and a variety of Japanese dishes that appeal to both families and solo diners. Reviewers commonly highlight the generous portion sizes and value for money, with dinner sets that include well-rounded accompaniments such as miso soup and pickled sides. The open kitchen concept adds to the lively atmosphere, though it can be noisy and occasionally affect the dining experience. While many enjoy traditional items like yakitori, okonomiyaki, and cold noodles, some note that certain dishes have flavors influenced by other Asian cuisines, leading to mixed feedback on authenticity. Service is generally friendly but can lack attentiveness during busy times. Overall, Kemuri offers a nostalgic and comfortable dining experience with room for improvement in freshness and service consistency.
A family of 2 adults and 2 kids, we ordered 2 Kemuri dinner ginger fried pork set & 1 pork shabu set. It's very value for money and we are satisfying full. Kemuri dinner set comes with Korean pickle, salad, egg, kimchi, bean sprouts, a daily side dish, a bowl of miso soup and plain rice. We took the option to upgrade to pork fried rice with additional RM5. Ginger fried pork is tender and juicy and it goes well with the plain rice. Pork shabu is pork belly in shabu sauce, it's simply delicious and the meat is very fresh and nicely cooked. There is a all you can drink promotion on Mon-Thur. For RM50 per person, you can drink for 2 hours with a complimentary side dish!
Food was delicious but it took awhile what we ordered to arrive. It was a bit noisy as it’s an open kitchen concept kind of place and there were many families with children dining in. They have a liquid buffet as well, pretty interesting!
The sashimi wasn't as fresh for the tuna. The ambience is lovely but the service staff were not as attentive. I had to call out to them a few times. Some of their food tasted more like Chinese /Thai options to me. Overall I enjoyed their beef tongue n salmon sashimi the most. The condiments they provided with their is . But it tasted more like Thai food than Japanese style.
Open kitchen, kind staffs, feels like short trip in Japan. Recommend to try small side dishes, very nostalgic taste! I tried 冷やし中華(cold noodle) with 味噌汁(miso soup) today at dachi table under RM25. Comfortable to have meal alone also.
A decent japanese restaurant. We ordered okonomiyaki, yakitori (6 sticks) and cold hirashi chuka. All were quite good. Okonomiyaki is abit saucy with too much mayo and teriyaki sauce. It was served sizzling hot on the hotplate and we got little steel spatulas like in japan to scoop up the cabbages. Yakitori was slightly salted without any bbq sauce. If you like sauce, can order the 4 sticks chicken instead. Service was great. On atmosphere, i felt the chairs and tables could be improved. They were not comfortable for long stay; stool was too small (i am considered petite) and tables had metal bars below that were quite low to cross my legs.
Dropped by on the spur of the moment for dinner. The food was very good for this price point. Portions was very decent. Taste was good. The set meal items complemented the main dish very well.
Ordered pork and fish and stir fried vege. Taste wise, is okay but the pork had the porky smell that u have to dip into hot chilli sauce.
